Dates of the 2017 session :

The programme is being modified


Schedules will be definitively decided the previous evening before the first competition day according to the number of enrolled candidates. All  candidates have to be present on April 26th (Wednesday)   (at 1.30  pm) before the qualifying tests to attend the drawing of their running time and order and tests on the piano in the Conservatoire de Musique de Valence (Drôme - France). 

Place : main Auditorium of the  Music School in Valence City (Drôme)  for Eliminatoires and demi-finale ; Théâtre de la Ville in Valence City for the "Finale"

The jury reserves the right to interrupt the candidates performance for exceeding the allotted  time or due to insufficient music quality.

Only original works are accepted, the transcripts are excluded except prior agreement from the competition administration.

 On the registration form the candidate will precise the performance time for each piece

The Valence City Music School is an important institution for music education.

The director is Didier Vadrot

This school gathers 1.000  students coming from Valence city, surroundings and neighbouring counties. The educational team is composed of 50 teachers. All classical musical disciplines are being taught. To note specialities like Jazz, topical music and music linked with imagery (film-making
).

Piano education involves about a hundred students trained by 4 teachers. The school proposes 20 training rooms, each with an upright piano. Four more rooms have Baby-Grand pianos.

The competition takes place in the main Auditorium, a 260 seats concert hall, equipped with a concert-Steinway piano whose quality level was appreciated by many renowned artists who staid in Valence (one of them Martha Argerich).

The Music school is located in the centre of Valence city. There are regular buses services and a nearby parking with many spaces.
